Venezuela's vice president, Elias Jaua, and Minister of Planning and Finance and third vice president, Jorge Giordani, on Tuesday officially have taken some of the functions of President Hugo Chavez - who last weekend traveled to Cuba to undergo sessions Chemotherapy - following the publication in the Official Gazette of the decree signed by the president.

During the absence of head of state may order Jaua forced expropriations and acquisitions, naming authorities, correct expenditures and budgets of the nation, representing the Socialist leader in cabinet meetings, approve or reject proposals ministries, among other powers.

Meanwhile, Giordani has the function of state budget shortfalls and exemptions, where necessary, of the Value Added Tax (VAT) and Income Tax (Income Tax), requires the official text.

Jaua who will take the brunt of the work because Chavez will represent the official events and meetings with members of the cabinet.

Before traveling to Cuba, Chavez announced a Cabinet that Giordiani Jaua and take over part of his duties during his absence. In doing so, made clear that only "delegate" certain powers and is not a "handover" of power, "as they want some sectors of the opposition."
